How I came to be a Designer:

I come from a family of very talented artists. My Parents, Brother, Sisters and Aunts were and are all very creative. (painters, drawers, sculptors, crafters etc.) I was always influenced and encouraged by them, and owe many of my talents to them and their teachings. I have always had a passion for design. I’ve been crafty and interested in arts for as far back as I can remember.

From the time I was ten years old, I would move my furniture in my bedroom every time I cleaned. I was always looking for innovative ways to create a different environment. I could make my room more efficient or feel more spacious with the same furniture and things, little did I know, I was space planning. I also designed and sold jewelry from the ages of eight to thirteen. I would work to come up with different color combinations and techniques that where new and exciting. When I was in high school I was drawn to art and structural details, so when it was time to start thinking about what I wanted to go to college for and where, I thought about all the things I naturally loved to do.

I then applied them to different occupations. I thought about studying to be an architect, a landscape architect, a psychologist, an engineer, an archeologist, but in the end Interior design stood out to be the field that I could utilize all of my talents. I could be creative, use my hands, be technical, and work with mathematics and technology. I made the right choice for myself because I love to design, it is always best to follow your bliss.

My Design Style:

I would describe my style as Classically Modern. I design spaces that are functional and have a warm open feel. I like to mix traditional details with a modern edge for a contemporary space that is appealing to a wide variety of people. I have a very eclectic taste and work well with any design style. My goal is to have clients that are more than happy with the spaces that I have created for them. I believe the spaces that we live and work in have the ability to transform our experiences from good to great, or even bad to great. So I look for ways to use the elements and principles of interior design to evoke the feeling that my client is looking for.
